Privacy Policy
Lineskip is a Chrome extension that shows a YouTube video's transcript and description in Chrome's Side Panel, and lets you skip to any moment by clicking its timestamp. It is published by Next AI Business.
In short: Lineskip does not collect, sell, share, or transmit your personal data. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own.
1. What Lineskip reads
When you open the Side Panel on a YouTube watch page (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=…), Lineskip reads the following in your browser:
- the video's title, channel name, description, duration, chapters, and caption (transcript) tracks, taken from the page's own data and from YouTube's caption requests;
- the video's current playback time, so it can highlight the current section and seek when you click a timestamp.
This information is processed locally to display it in the panel. It is not sent to the developer or to any third party.
2. Network requests
Lineskip makes requests only to youtube.com, the same site you are already using, in order to load the video's captions. If you choose a machine-translated language, YouTube performs the translation and the request goes to YouTube. Lineskip has no other network destinations and does not contact any server operated by the developer.
3. What Lineskip stores on your device
| Settings | Theme, text size, spacing, section length, recent translation languages, and the follow-video choice. Stored in the panel's local storage. |
|---|---|
| Short load history | Up to 20 entries (time, video ID, result, and which loading method worked), stored in chrome.storage.local. Used only to show whether loading has been failing recently. |
This data stays on your device. It is deleted when you remove the extension or clear its data in Chrome.
4. Problem reports
The “Report a problem” button copies a technical report to your clipboard and opens a pre-titled issue page on GitLab in a new tab. The report contains the extension version, your browser description, the video link, which loading method ran, error messages, and which page elements were found. It does not contain transcript text.
Nothing is sent unless you paste the report into the issue page and submit it yourself. Anything you post there is handled under GitLab's own privacy policy and may be public.
